Collection: February 2023 Tabletalk

The February 2023 issue of Tabletalk will commemorate the one-hundredth anniversary of J. Gresham Machen’s book Christianity and Liberalism with a series of articles that apply its arguments to the church today. As part of his fight against theological liberalism in the Presbyterian Church, Machen wrote Christianity and Liberalism to make clear that theological liberalism is a religion wholly different from orthodox, biblical Christianity. Machen clearly demonstrates that to compromise with theological liberalism at any point is to put the church on a path to destruction. Evangelicalism in our day, facing many threats both inside and outside the church, is hearing the call to compromise with theological liberalism even though the battles may not always be exactly the same as they were in Machen’s day. This issue of Tabletalk will look at the importance of Machen’s work and apply its lessons to the problems that we face today.
