The March 2024 issue of Tabletalk will give readers a thorough overview of Christian liberty and liberty of conscience. Galatians 5:1 gives us one of the most precious truths and charges for the Christian: “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” Church history and experience show us, however, how difficult it is to avoid falling into the slavery of either legalism or antinomianism. Westminster Confession of Faith (WCF) 20 provides much assistance here, with its four paragraphs giving us an important explanation and application of true Christian liberty. This issue of Tabletalk will provide an overview of the biblical teaching on Christian liberty through the lens of WCF 20, giving guidance for rightly embracing and living out the freedom we have in Christ.
